Comments

This post is for the solopreneurs who are always working on projects hoping to make it to their next big break. It’s for the entrepreneurs who feel family and friends never understand what they do. And last but not least, those quiet superstars who feel their efforts will never pay off.

Ignore what other people think you like and listen to your heart, its your passions in life no one can rightfully criticize.

Your friends, family, sister, teacher, uncles cannot determine your life for you. People may never understand what you are trying to accomplish. However, there will be a day they change their mind or perhaps they will not. It doesn’t matter. Ignore people when they try to shoot down your dream.

My family has always been supportive but they never quite understood what I do for a living especically in the early years of entrepreneurship. To them, I am on the computer a lot. I’ve heard just about every remark and negative comment you could think of from friends, family and anonymous online strangers but I just nod my head and keep pressing on. This is my journey and my journey alone.

Continue your education.

Learn as much as you can. Subscribe to all the industry related magazines you can afford. Bookmark related blogs, forums, news, etc. Visit tons of online communities and help people brainstorm and answer questions. Use your local library. Keep on top of your game by exploring the hell out of your career.

I start off every morning reading blogs, forums and tech news. I get up an hour earlier to brush up on web development skills. Nowadays, there is almost no excuse not to read something about your industry everyday.

What drives individuals your admire?

Who do you admire and why? Read their back story. Find out what they believe in and how they got there. Mentors come in all shapes and sizes from books, blog posts and social media accounts. Surround yourself with people who drive and inspire you.

Find it within yourself to keep yourself inspired.

Surround yourself with inspiration. Print pictures of physical things you want such as a car or a house and outcomes you would like to have such as quotes about peace and happiness or people who inspire you. Tape them somewhere by your computer.

Make a song list of inspiring songs. Mine is labeled “EffYew” ( stands for a bad word 😀 ). It’s for when I struggle with believing in my efforts or when someone taunts or doubts me in some way. After just a few minutes I am energized and focused.

If it doesn’t work, keep trying….or try something else.

Nothing is set in stone and your goals are one of them. Goals should be flexible and fluid as time goes on. Don’t be afraid to change a goal. Evaluate goals every so often to keep you on track and focused.
